Industry: Consumer Products - Sporting Goods. Acushnet stays teed off all the time. A subsidiary of Fortune Brands, Acushnet is a leading maker of golf balls, clubs, shoes, gloves, and other golfing equipment and accessories. Its Titleist brand of golf balls is the #1 seller in the US. Its Footjoy golf shoes also are #1 nationwide. The company also makes value-priced Pinnacle golf balls and Cobra-brand golf clubs. Acushnet's products are sold throughout the US, and also in Canada, South Africa, and in parts of Europe and Asia.

Industry: Imaging equipment and supplies. Agfa-Gevaert Group is all about image. It makes and markets imaging systems for photographic, graphic arts, motion picture, and medical imaging processes. Agfa's sales consumer products include film, photographic paper, and equipment for photofinishers and labs. Its medical equipment includes films, chemicals, software, and printers for digital radiography and other medical applications.

Industry: National Defense. Today's Air National Guard (ANG) is a highly efficient, expertly trained force of more than 109,000 men and women. The Air Guard is unique compared to other Reserve Force components because we are tasked with duel roles. The ANG's state and federal mission is to provide trained, well-equipped men and women who can augment the active force during national emergencies or war, and provide assistance during natural disasters and civil disturbances.

Industry: Healthcare. The fifth largest publicly traded health benefits company in the U.S., Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield provides health insurance and services to over 10 million customers in nearly 10 states.

Industry: Financial Services. Branch Banking and Trust serves consumers, small to midsized businesses, and government entities through more than 1,100 banking branches. Its flagship subsidiary, Branch Banking and Trust, is one of North Carolina's oldest banks and a leading originator of residential mortgages in the Southeast. In addition to traditional deposit accounts and loans, the company offers life and property/casualty insurance, mutual funds, and financial planning services. Business services include leasing, factoring, and investment banking (through Scott & Stringfellow).

Industry: Leisure/Restaurants. Some say it's not good to live in the past, but for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Group, it's been fairly profitable. Located primarily on interstate highways, 470 Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurants are famous for their rustic decor (stone fireplaces, rocking chairs) and country cooking (country ham, turnip greens, grits). The restaurants also feature retail areas where customers can buy items such as hand-blown glassware, cast iron cookware, and woodcrafts, as well as jellies and old-fashioned candies.

Industry: Healthcare / Research - Oncology. Since its founding in 1947, Dana-Farber has been committed to providing cancer patients with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research.

Industry: Personal Care Products. The Gillette Company is sharp and consumers are all lit up about it. The world's #1 maker of shaving supplies, Gillette is best known for known for its razors and blades (Sensor, Trac II, and the premium-priced Mach3); but Gillette is also a leading producer of batteries (Duracell). The company also offers products for dental care (Oral-B), toiletries (Right Guard), and electric shavers (Braun).

Industry: Print/Online Media. The Houston Chronicle, part of the Hearst family, celebrated its 100th anniversary as the premier provider of news and information for Greater Houston in print and online. The Chronicle is a full-fledged, full-service communications company. With a plethora of information-gathering and research capabilities, The Chronicle is poised to take on the challenge of integrating the long-standing traditions of journalism with the new era of information technology.

Industry: Transportation - Trucking. As one of the largest truckload carriers in the US, J.B. Hunt Transport Services is a leader of the pack. The company, which has more than 10,700 tractors and some 43,000 trailers and containers, provides dry-van truckload service throughout the US and in Canada and Mexico. J.B. Hunt's intermodal unit moves customers' freight by a combination of train and truck. J.B. Hunt serves customers in the food, paper, retail, and manufacturing industries.

Industry: Consumer Products. Jostens is the leading US producer of yearbooks and class rings. Class rings are sold on school campuses and through bookstores, retail jewelers, and the Internet, while Jostens' sports rings commemorate professional sports champions (it has made 23 of 35 Super Bowl rings). Jostens sells other graduation products including diplomas, announcements, caps, and gowns, and it takes and sells class and individual pictures for schools in the US and Canada.

Industry: Arts & Entertainment. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is the foremost museum of modern art in the world. MoMA acquires 20th-century art from around the world and hosts temporary exhibits and film programs. It serves the public through traveling exhibits, book publishing, and educational activities.

Industry: Insurance. New York Life Insurance has been in the Big Apple since it was just a tiny seed. The company is the top mutual life insurer in the US with a core business in life insurance and annuities. New York Life has added such products and services as mutual funds and securities brokerage for individuals. It also offers its asset management services to institutional investors. Other lines of business include special group policies sold through AARP and to federal government contractors.

Industry: Beverages - Soft Drinks. Ocean Spray Cranberries has transformed cranberries from turkey sidekick to the stuff of everyday beverages, cereal, and mixed drinks, now controlling about 50% of the US cranberry drinks market. A marketing cooperative owned by more than 900 cranberry and citrus growers in the US and Canada, Ocean Spray has blended the cranberry with fruits ranging from apples to tangerines to produce its line of juices. It also makes other cranberry products (sauce, snacks), grapefruit juice, and Ocean Spray Premium 100% juice drinks.

Industry: Insurance. Ohio Casualty Group is the parent of a group of companies offering a variety of business and consumer insurance lines. Subsidiaries Ohio Casualty Insurance, West American Insurance, Ohio Security Insurance, American Fire and Casualty, and Ohio Casualty of New Jersey underwrite property/casualty insurance (the lion's share of the company's business), including auto liability, homeowners, workers' compensation, and commercial multiperil lines.

Industry: Electronic Business Equipment. Pitney Bowes is the world's largest producer of postage meters but also makes other mailing equipment and provides shipping and weighing systems. Pitney Bowes offers online postage services, financing for office equipment purchases, and facilities management services. It also develops software to create mailers and manage shipping, transportation, and logistics for government agencies and corporations.

Industry: Higher Education. The University of the District of Columbia is the only public institution of higher education in the District of Columbia. It was chartered in 1974 as an urban land-grant institution with an open admissions policy. The University is responsive to the occupational needs of the residents of the District of Columbia Metropolitan Area and continues to design programs and produce competitive graduates in response to that need.

Industry: Higher Education. Texas' premier public university system, the University of Houston stands on the forefront of education, research, and service for over 75 years. UH serves more than 30,000 students in 13 colleges and offering 291 undergraduate and graduate degrees. The expansive UH campus affords students a prime setting for academic pursuits and proximity to the nation's fourth largest city. Several programs at the University of Houston rank among the best in the country.
