Apr 23, 2007 - Framingham, MA - A new benchmark report from Aberdeen Group – The CFO’s View of Telecom Cost Management – focuses on how Finance and IT bring different perspectives to expense management. The report particularly highlights areas where technology can help fill gaps between finance and IT for Total Telecom Cost Management (TTCM) performance to help manage their communications spend. The result: IT getting the automation and tools they need to manage spend and providing finance with visibility into spend and transparency.
The AnchorPoint sponsored report indicates telecom network expenses range from 1% of revenue for large enterprises to 2.2% of revenue for small enterprises. “The report confirms IT and Finance have unique cross-departmental TTCM requirements to maximize the benefits to visibility, operational efficiency and the bottom line,” said David E. Olsson, CEO & President of AnchorPoint. “As enterprise telecom services become an increasingly greater portion of the IT budget with more complex services, Finance and IT are recognizing the value of aligning their management goals for high-impact operational and automated solutions for TTCM that range from usage management, invoice management, auditing, service order management and provisioning to aligning telecom assets. These challenges are magnified in large enterprises with multiple businesses and departments managing multiple vendor relationships.”
The Aberdeen Group report indicates 63% of survey respondents currently have a program to reduce telecom costs, yet results vary wildly because most firms do not have the proper technology or in-house skills sets to address reducing operational costs to manage network expenses, reducing late payment penalties, improving procurement efficiencies, and better auditing tools for achieving results.
